The hunt for incremental cash-based modalities has led many practitioners to add services, such as aesthetics, to their clinic operations. Leveraging a trend fueled by the baby boomers that their practice already targets, aesthetic protocols also attract the 35-55 age group that are competing with younger up-and-comers. While my focus remains on furthering the IPS Advanced Arthritis Relief Protocol™, many of my IPS clients have moved in this direction to supplement their insurance based practices with viable elective (cash) based programs. After my recent training in a unique regenerative medical protocol using blood platelets (PRP), I am excited to share what I have learned…

As I write this article the sun is setting over concourse C of Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport Atlanta (the world’s busiest) awaiting my connecting flight home from quite possibly the most astounding medical training and educational course of my career to date.

Cosmetic PRP

The magic happened in the quaint southern town of Fairhope Alabama where Dr. Charles Runels just completed an intensive two-day didactic and hands-on training of a radical, yet simple, safe and effective cosmetic medical procedures that included the Vampire Facelift®, Vampire Facial®, the O-Shot®, and the P-shot®.  All of these procedures are his unique invention. I was fortunate to be one of the select few to attend training in this intimate group setting.

My thought processes surrounding the application of not only aesthetics, but regenerative medicine as a whole, have forever been changed in a profound and wonderful way.

I am writing this article to share my experience, some pearls of advice gained, and information on how you too can learn what I am writing about…..

The Journey to Discover Cosmetic PRP

To begin, a little background on how a conservative businessman who has spent his career in non-surgical orthopedic pain management wound up at the very fringe of medicine training on how to inject people’s faces and private parts with their own blood… It all began about a year ago when I saw a similar procedure for female’s suffering from sexual dysfunction featured on the local news in my hometown of Tampa Florida.

Already familiar with and using Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) in various orthopedic applications, I was intrigued by the potential cosmetic uses we could integrate into our practices nationwide.

Google

So down the Google rabbit hole I went and my research eventually lead me to the foremost authority in this field, Dr. Runels. I visited his website and tried to sign up for training, but the next seminar was sold out. So I called and reserved seats for our medical director and myself at the next available event.

Upon arriving for training at Dr. Runels practice I was already nervous. Add to that his clinic had no sign and the office appeared more like a French quarter sitting room than a medical practice. It was different and unexpected (as was everything I was about to experience). Within minutes of Dr. Runels speaking the setting made sense, and the brilliance of the applications of PRP he developed began to shine through.

We started by hearing Dr. Runels personal story of how his life changed eventually leading to these procedures being born. He took us through the entire thought process of how they were developed, much like seeing your car’s engine being pieced together before you ever step on the gas pedal. It was surprising simply and it just made sense…

The Vampire Facelift®

PRP Cosmetic

Later, we moved on to live procedures beginning with a truly unique way to use a single syringe of Juvederm® to create a natural more youthful facial shape. Then how to layer PRP below and above to create more lasting affect while also addressing texture and color of the skin (the Vampire Facelift®).

That night she (the model) looked surprisingly younger… The next morning the effects had improved further and the bright youthful color and sheen or her face was nothing short of an awe-inspiring transformation. What’s more impressive is the full effect of the new tissue formation will not even be reached for three months. Yet in just 24 hours the outcome was already superior as to what I have seen achieved with traditional interventions such as Botox®, Collagen, and other fillers and relaxers.

The Vampire Breastlift®

After lunch we dove into the truly radical, and in my opinion, most exciting procedures. The platelet poor plasma left over from the PRP harvest of the whole blood was used to perform a Vampire Breastlift®. I watched with my own eyes as the volunteer models breasts were drawn towards the center of the chest creating dramatic cleavage, lifted upward overall, and the areola slowly pointed upward as if the effect of years of gravity appeared to reverse before my very eyes!

The P-Shot®

During our night of  training we watched as a P-Shot® was performed. Being a man I couldn’t help but assume an injection to the penis would be horribly painful, but the volunteer model experienced no pain or ill effects. The next day I sat next to him in class and he reported waking up that morning “like he did in his high school days”.

The O-Shot® – For Urinary Incontinence

OShot

After the Vampire Breastlift® the same model then received the O-Shot® for improving urologic function, completing “the trifecta” as Dr. Runels referred to it. The O-Shot® touts an impressive outcome for those suffering from urinary incontinence without the risks and side effects of other common interventions for this condition.

Why not offer a risk-free, typically painless, in-office procedure to help reduce or eliminate patient urge-based incontinence?

If you presently offer the IPS Advanced Arthritis Relief Protocol™ or focus your practice on elderly patients, look back in their charts and check to see if they volunteered any information about their urologic function. I know from operating multiple practices, that specialize in the treatment of Osteoarthritis, that many of our patients do in fact suffer from urinary incontinence. (Without looking at their charts it is easily detected, as I saw discarded proof in the bathroom trash bins when emptied). If practitioners can offer a risk-free, typically painless, office based procedure to help patients reduce or eliminate their stress and/or urge based incontinence, what reason is there to not recommend it?

Consider Elective PRP Services

Dr Runel and Lance Liberti Vampire Facelift

Who would have thought that utilizing the same blood platelets we have injected for years into joints (knees, shoulders, hips, elbows, the spine…) to regenerate the body (cartilage, tendons, heal muscle tears, reduce scar tissue formation from soft tissue injuries or surgical procedures) could rejuvenate the face, breasts, and genitals of both sexes! Apparently Dr. Runels did, and I sure am glad he decided to share this knowledge with others, including myself!

If you are one of my clients, or currently utilize PRP in orthopedic and/or other non-aesthetic applications, I highly recommend looking into the full potential of PRP and alternative applications such as those described in this article today by following this link: www.vampirefacelift.com/ips

This weekend opened my eyes to a whole new world of possibilities for the application of PRP, and I hope some of you reading this will have the open mind to consider the possibilities for your practice.
